COTAPSA monitors OMERS activities and advocates for improved governance, transparency, financial management, and accountability to the contributing members.  We continue to advocate for non-union employee representation on the OMERS Sponsors Corporation – the body responsible for determining contribution rates and retirement benefits. 

Our primary approach is to address our issues and concerns by communicating them through written correspondence to the OMERS Administration and Sponsors boards of directors, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA), the Ontario government, and City Council. We also engage other OMERS stakeholders, especially the more than 63,000 management/non-union active members who represent 22% of the OMERS Plan membership but have no representation at the OMERS table.
